Lezersrecensie
Geweldig eerste deel
Sword of the Seven Sins by Emily Colin is the story of Eva and Ari, who live in a dystopian world where sins and emotions are outlawed. When Eva unexpectedly becomes an apprentice to Ari, a fierce assassin/defender of the world they live in, their whole world turns upside down.
From the very first page I was hooked. As a reader you get immediately thrown into the action. I loved Eva, how she questions what is happening, even from a young age. When later on she meets Ari, who has watched her from afar, their interactions and building relationship is great to read. Both are struggling with their harsh society. Eva is a fantastic character, fierce, determined and a great fighter. But she feels something is not right with her and when we learn during the story who (or maybe what) she is, is comes as a big surprise. Ari is loyal to his world, but by meeting Eva is starting to question everything. All is not what it seems. He is a great warrior, and he taunts Eva mercifully, and they have a great chemistry.
The writing style is fantastic, fast paced and flowing. The dual POV, my favorite writing style, gives even more suspense to the story. And the worldbuilding is also amazing.
Emily Colin has done a wonderful job creating the world of Ari and Eva. The story is filled with tension, danger, betrayal, fierceness, forbidden love, in a dystopian world you can understand, with characters you get to love, with plottwists and unexpected turns, and with a mesmerizing writing style, all that kept me turning the pages faster.
I can’t wait to read the other books in this fantastic series! Highly recommended.
