Geweldig!

When I started reading When Secrets Beckon by Lauren Searson-Patrick I had no idea this book would become one of my favorites. The story starts when Theo, the brother of Rubilena (Ruby), receives a mysterious object by their estranged mother. And when they learn the owner of this object gets to learn secrets to destroy the world, things get really dangerous.

From the very first page I got sucked into the story. The writing style is fast paced and flowing. The worldbuilding is great and so very well described. You feel the fear and all the emotions of the characters. I just love Ruby, she is a fighter, fierce and a real protector of her family and the ones she loves. She has no choice in her situation, but makes the best of it. When her long lost love arrives and agrees to help her to get rid of the object, she learns that not everything is as it seemed.

Fox, the friend from before, comes across great as well. He is mysterious and as the story unfolds we get to learn who he really is and what happened. The plot of the object is also fantastic. Each time we get to learn a bit more and that makes that I could not stop reading.

When Secrets Beckon is a fantastic novel, filled with mystery, magic, danger, betrayal, romance and with many twists and turns, most of which I did not see coming, at all. If you want to read a novel that gets a hold on you, this is it. I can’t wait to read more books written by this author.
