Interessant verhaal, maar miste diepgang

Where the Dust Settles had a lot of elements I usually love: witness protection, emotional baggage, and a cowboy love interest. This really pulled me in, and the opening chapters were promising.

However, as the story progressed, I struggled a lot with the pacing and believability. The relationship between Ella and Grace developed too quickly: the characters know each other for a week, and suddenly they’re each other’s entire world. Ella forgets she's in protection, and Grace transforms from a grumpy bad boy to golden retriever in just a couple of days. It all moved way too fast. This made it harder for me to fully connect with their bond.

Both characters have experienced significant trauma, which is mentioned but not worked out as well. I would have loved to see more emotional depth in that area. By the end, I wasn’t fully emotionally invested anymore.

That said, the writing is engaging and flows well, which made the book easy to read.

If you enjoy fast-paced, insta-love stories with a cowboy twist, this could definitely be your kind of read!
