I finished “the Christmas murder game” on Christmas Day.
It’s a murder mystery written by Alexandra Benedict.

The main character is Lily Armintage. Her aunt (and adoptive mother) died and asked Lily in a letter to return to the mansion “Endgame House” to take part in the annual tradition one last time. The challenge: Solve 12 clues, find 12 keys and a hidden room all in the 12 days of Christmas. The price: the winner becomes the owner of the great mansion. Lily doesn’t want to house, because her mother died there 22 years ago. Her aunt promises her however that if she solves the clues, she’ll find out who killed her mom all those years ago. So she decides to play as well. Her cousins all have their own reasons to compete, but will they play fair?

I loved it! The riddles are ingenious and all written as sonnets. I thought this was very original. You also got to know all the different characters in the book, some better than others. Some characters you just love, but others…, especially that one cousin, so awful. You know who I mean, once you’ve read it. One thing I can tell you, is that you don’t need enemies with a family like Lily’s. The book started off pretty slow, but once they found the first key, I just wanted to finish the book and find out everything.
