So glad I read this one
I must admit that I felt very hesitant to start this book. Around the time Fourth Wing became very popular on Booktok (Tiktok), I had just joined Booktok and learned immediately that most booktok books, were not my cup of tea. I did however order Fourth Wing because one of my best friends started reading it and she got me interested in the book. Fourth Wing rested on my shelves for a good amount of times and I only finally started reading it after a bookclub started reading Fourth Wing. And God, I am so glad I tagged along.
The stroy is written is frist person perepective, which alway helps me get into the story, and the end holds a little surprise when it comes to perpective, it gives you another look into this world and I loved it.
Immediately Rebecca draws you into the story by the way she writes, the way she builds up the world and describes the characters. I have read Fantasy before but it has been a while sice I really got into it so Fourth Wing was, for me, one of the best books to start with, diving into Fantasy again. The book doesn't go to deep into all kinds of things, such as magic, the world, etc, but still Rebecca builds a world that you immediately feel a part of. It's easy to read through, is not too complicated and it hits you right in the feelings. I have been angry, I have laughed, I have cried (multiple times!!!) and I just didn't want to stop reading at all.
I have never been a real fan of romance, but I loved the romace in this book. Ofcourse, Violet falls head over heels for the person she is supposed the stay the hell away from and his character is just... pffff.... extremely hot and interesting... And those dragons, I mean come on, how can I not fall for that.
There are plottwists in this book that I sometimes saw coming and sometimes didn't see coming. I will say that Fourth Wing is somewhat of a standard Fantasy book so a lot of "happenings" are expected and the story does not go too deep, but with Fourth Wing, I loved every single bit of it, despite my reservations.
I could say a lot more but that would mean I spoil a lot of things... So I won't :P
I can not do anything other than give Fourth Wing 5 stars!
