Good start of a new series
With ‘Pulling Strings’, Quinn Cameron pulled me into the story very easily. I love reading about gangs and criminals and adding a magical layer was new to me. I liked Fitch, he was nicely balanced; not completely heartless but not too sympathetic either. The story had good pacing, the politics were intriguing and realistic and the dynamics within the gang were interesting. I had some difficulties with Fitch’s younger brother, finding it somewhat hard to believe that he was so loyal to the people who had taken everything from him. Seeing how badly Fitch wanted him away from the gang, I would have expected some more profound conversations between them, especially since they seemed so close. And I know – talking about feelings is not easy for badass criminals like them, but to me, it felt like there was room for it. Other than that, I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!
