“Good girls deserve a treat…’
Girl Dinner is a slow-paced book that sometimes felt unsettling and at the same time portrays what it’s like to be a woman in today’s society.
Girl Dinner was a book that I couldn’t wait to dive into. It sounded very promising and I hoped it was going to be a perfect October read. And although it is a good book to read during this time of the year, the sort of lack of horror was a little bit of a let down for me. It thought it to be quite slow-paced, which isn’t a bad thing, and the whole book I was waiting for the reveal which comes kind of late. The story did leave me feeling unsettled here and there, which I loved and I also liked how it portrays womanhood in today’s society.
I thought Sloane was a very interesting character, but for me all the baby stuff could have toned down a little bit, but maybe that’s just because I’m not a mother and can’t really relate. I also thought Nina was intriguing and the story kept me on my toes on what was going to happen. I also liked the humour in the book, but again I just wished it was a bit more gruesome for it to be a horror book.
Girl Dinner is the first book by Olivie Blake that I’ve read and although it wasn’t quite what I expected it to be, it was still a very entertaining read.
