A story of new beginnings
Fleur is looking forward to the trip to the snowy mountains of Winterberg. She booked the trip for herself, but also for her friends Lonneke and Arjanne. Well friends.... Lonneke and Arjanne are class mates. Fleur does not have real friends actually. She was kept solitary by her ex-boyfriend. Her ex Gabriel, What a fine name for such a horrible person. She is glad she left him, he was no good for her. Although he is her ex, she is still in fear, is very uptight and specially at night, she has the habit to close the windows and doors extra carefully. But in Winterberg she finally relaxes a bit, like she can breath again. Maybe it has to do a little bit by Melle, the receptionist of the hotel were she is staying. They get to know each other and he is very sweet and she feels safe around him. They have a good time with each other. But than her past catches up with her and she has to leaf Melle behind in Winterberg. She has no other choice. Will she see Melle ever again?
Wow, this was a very heavy and intense book. I think this book is not for everyone. It's about abuse and the details are very explicit. The book is about Fleur, who lives with the consequences of her relationship with Gabriel. She thought she had broken off her relationship with him, but Gabriel had other plans. And although Fleur feels a little bit saver in Winterberg, Gabriel had his spies, and has regained control over her again. As an out stander its easy to say; just leave the guy! But i know it's not that easy, he has found her once, he can do it again. When reading this book it's not that i think; why are you still with him, no, i'm thinking how can you do something like that to another living person! That man has no feelings. You wish Fleur a good life , a life where she doesn't have to look over her shoulder, and above all, a sweet and lovingly relationship. Is that in the cards for Fleur? Pippa has written a story about surviving, seeking help, open up to a new person and live again. She did a great job and perfectly described the feelings of Fleur.
