Dark and unique

I finished reading 'Burn with me' written by Trin Savage. This is a dark military romance and the second book in the 'Chaotic Love' series.

"I like things I can predict. I know how much blood I can draw with a certain stab wound or what a scream will sound like when robbing someone of air. I like being in control of taking or saving a life... I don't like not being able to stop myself."

I enjoyed this story very much. I think Trin has a very unique writing style and the story itself is unique too. Both books are military romances, but it absolutely doesn't feel like they are similar. This made me want to keep reading and finding out what was to happen next. And boy.. that did not dissapoint.

"Darlin, you don't need someone to burn the world for you. You deserve someone who will hand you the matches and f*ck you into the ashes."

This story is about Jasmine and Sam. They play a part as side characters in the first book and are the main characters in 'Burn with me'. Jasmine is new within Seaborn, the faction where Sam is part of. Sam is a soldier through and through, where Jasmine is mostly sarcastic and hateful. Will they ever find some common ground?

"I found her, so that means she's mine."

What characterizes the FMC and the MMC is their problematic upbringings. The darkness of their past and how they find each other in trying to chase some form of light. Despite their upbringings being completely different, have both brought them traumas that play a very big role in their daily lives. A big part of this story is dealing with traumas and triggers. For me, this part definitely gives the story a deeper meaning.

"If you were God, you'd live in heaven, and I don't belong there. But I do belong with you, so sin with me. Be my reaper, not my God."

Like the first book is this one a champ in enemy to lovers and the found family part is very crucial for the story too. While fleeing from their past, they all found a new family. One that accepts them for who they are, flaws and all. It gives this story a unique perspective and I enjoyed it. I give it four stars.
