Powerful
I've finished reading 'He knows when you're awake' written by Alta Hensley. This is the second book in the 'Naughty or Nice' series and is a dark stalker romance.
"I was thinking about surrender. How choosing to give up control is its own kind of power."
A dark and broody but insanely handsome MMC with an obsession and stalker behavior? I shouldn't like that right, but I absolutely do. Like the FMC I was pulled in and wanted to stick around. Although the FMC is a little too trusting at first, the story makes up for it when it starts flowing.
"The precious stones scatter across my workspace, catching the light. Just like everything else in my life right now—beautiful, valuable, and sharp enough to draw blood."
This story is about Sloane and Cole. Sloane is a jewelry designer that wants to create her own brand and establish a name for herself. But with no money or support that dream seems almost impossible.
Cole is a very rich CEO that has established himself and has a name that carries respect everywhere. Sloane catches Cole's eye, but what does a rich CEO want with a simple jewelry designer?
"These aren't just accessories. They're weapons disguised as beauty. Every woman who wears them will feel invincible. Like an Ice Queen."
The MMC is definitely a stalker, but the actually stalking he did to find out everything about her, isn't part of the story. His stalking behavior is definitely part of the book, but it's not such an obvious stalker romance as the first book was. Although that doesn't make the book any less great. It's a story that's thought out very well. Difficult details were used to make a background story that benefits the mayor plottwist towards the end.
"Having something to lose makes you more careful."
Both characters are strong and that becomes even more clear towards the end of the book. It shows their power, their patience, but also their ability to cope and trust. Setbacks and misfortunes are never too difficult for them, creating a love story that's admirable and a story that's great and reads easy. I give it four stars.
