Deeply odd by Dean Koontz (De Lifter)
As I’m approaching the end of the Odd Thomas series, Deeply Odd being the penultimate book in the series, I start to realise more and more how good this series started out and after book 3 there was such a decline in the way the storylines were drawn… and with that also Odd’s mood, from an optimistic young bright fellow to a dark minded, pessimistic young guy… okay, in book 1 he lost someone close (really close) to him (sorry for this little spoiler!) but as he is aware of seeing that person again soon, he should be hopeful… but he kind of lost his optimism along the way of his adventures…
Deeply Odd started out really good, but somewhere it lost its momentum (same thing happened in Odd Apocalypse) and things got strange, weird and complicated… and as ever, Odd meets these characters that complicate things even more (since Odd Hours he’s been travelling with Annemaria, the enigmatic girl with no purpose at all, so far!) and now Edie Fischer comes along… I sure hope Saint Odd will provide decent answers to who they really are!
It took me a while to finish this book (also been feeling sick, might not have helped!) and I notice more and more how I love Koontz’ older work more than his recent books… I will be rather mild when I give it a 3/5 (2,5 might actually be more true, so somewhere in between)
Btw, is this Elsewhere the same Elsewhere as in Elsewhere (the book)?
And now back to Pico Mundo!?
