Promising theme, but execution could have been better

For our book club, we’re reading Rewitched this month, and I finished it with mixed feelings. The premise was strong, and the themes were promising, but the execution could have been better.

The beginning really drew me in. I had high hopes for the trials and was eager to learn more about the coven. However, the middle part dragged on for too long. I lost interest and honestly struggled to get through it. The pacing just felt too slow for me.

Thankfully, the last 40% picked up again! I was genuinely excited; the story became exciting. The plot twist definitely saved the book for me. Without it, this would’ve been a 2-star read. Still, the ending wrapped up a little too neatly for my taste.

Belle wasn’t my favorite FMC. She’s supposed to be 30, but she acted more like a teenager. Rune, on the other hand, I really liked him! He was sweet and protective and gave off some nice “who did this to you” vibes. I also felt bad for him when Belle was being mean. But honestly, Artorius was the real highlight for me! Even though I didn’t always trust him, he was such a kind and endearing character.

In general, the writing style wasn’t for me. It was overly descriptive, with too many details that made it hard to visualize what was happening. The pacing also felt uneven. Too slow most of the time, then suddenly rushed in parts.

All in all, Rewitched is a cute story, but don’t go in expecting too much.
