Another rollercoaster of emotions

I absolutely loved the first book in this series, so when I had the chance to sign up for an ARC of book 2, I didn’t hesitate! And once again, this book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions.

In this sequel, we follow Jacqui again. She’s still in love with Remy and Mick, but everything changes. Hearts are broken, and Jacqui ends up moving across the country. There she meets Butch, and even though she swears she’s not ready for anything serious, you just can’t stop love…

The writing was, again, so good! It truly felt like I was living among these characters. They all feel like friends at this point. Book 1 was all about love, friendship, yearning, and belonging, while this one focused more on believing in yourself, finding hope and creating a new family.

I loved how Jacqui stood up for herself, chose herself and her future. She was heartbroken and carried a lot of trauma, but she worked through it. Not easy, but she was so brave. In the end, she found hope again. I loved that for her.

Butch and his family were such a highlight! Butch was sweet and caring, while also totally giving off sexy lumberjack vibes. I loved how he kept calling her “Sundance” and gave her new hope. And Emmy was just too cute.

However, I did miss the 80s vibes that were so strong in the first book. And honestly, I feel bad for Remy and the storyline he got.

I also kept waiting for Jacqui to run back to Mick, which made me feel a little anxious because I didn’t want her new relationship with Butch to fall apart. But that’s 100% me and my trust issues, not the writing.

So overall, this book was emotional, messy, and hopeful. The characters grew, hearts were healed, and it was another great, unputdownable read from K.C. Lake. And did I mention? The spice was amazing.
