Een beetje vreemd..

Okay, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this book. It was kind of fun, but also… not really.

This might partly be my own fault since I went into this book blindly, but I really wasn’t a fan of the insta-love. It’s not my favorite trope to begin with, and here it felt especially forced and unrealistic.

I did find the boss/employee dynamic interesting, but some scenes were just not believable. Even if you sign a “relationship contract” with HR, it still doesn’t seem appropriate for a boss to tell his staff to leave because he’s about to have sex with one of the employees. Not exactly great for a safe work environment… but hey, what do I know?

The scenes where Stella is actually working were fun and interesting. Her job as a window dresser isn’t something you see very often in books, so that felt really original.

Her prison backstory didn’t add much for me, except for explaining her insecurity (and basically her entire personality).

All in all, this was a fine, easy-to-read Christmas book, but mostly a confirmation that Tessa Bailey just isn’t the author for me. I read two other books by her last year and rated those two stars as well.
