Lezersrecensie
Had beter uitgewerkt moeten worden
In November I read The Nanny for my book club, but tbh, I’ve definitely read better.
We follow Cassie, who takes a nanny job to pay for her studies. Her boss, Aiden, is a handsome chef. It doesn’t take long for Cassie to realize they actually “know” each other already. Well, each other’s bodies. She used to be active on OnlyFans, and Aiden was one of her most loyal subscribers.
While it sounds like a fun, original premise, it didn’t quite work for me. The writing was okay, but many scenes or character traits didn’t make sense. For example, Aiden is a chef but can’t make pancakes…?
Between chapters we get screenshots from their OnlyFans chats. Normally I love texts/messages in books, but these were so cringe.. And personally, I hated the third act breakup and miscommunication.
Sophie, the daughter, was adorable though and definitely a highlight.
Overall, this just wasn’t my book. A fun concept, but it needed better execution.
