Lezersrecensie

Een van de beste boeken die ik dit jaar heb gelezen!

" I know now what matters, and it is not what I have lost. It is my memories. Wounds heal. Love lasts. We remain."

Guys… I didn’t finish this book; this book finished me.
I almost never cry over books. Sure, I get emotional and I get some tears in my eyes, but this… this was serious ugly crying. I was absolutely sobbing when I reached the end.

I know not everyone loves reading about the war, but believe me when I say: read this one.

The beginning was a bit tough for me. The writing style is very detailed, so I really had to take my time to settle into it. But once the story pulled me in, I flew through the pages.

I became completely invested in Vianne and Isabelle. Their character growth throughout the story is incredible. It’s sad, it’s moving, it’s hopeful, and it’s horrifying, all at once. It’s everything. It’s war.

There are so many beautiful quotes, and I loved the dual POV and the multiple timelines. I’m so grateful I read this book for our book club, because it moved me more than I expected!
