A cute second chance love story with high autumn vibes
Madison, a food writer who has built a life in New York, is back in her hometown to save her childhood home, The Cinnamon Spice Inn. She’s forced to work alongside Zach, her ex-boyfriend she never quite got over. As sparks fly between them, they must decide whether it's worth the risk.
To start, this is a cute second-chance romance filled with cozy small-town charm and lots of autumn vibes. The writing is very easy to read, and I loved the way the seasonal atmosphere came through.
At the beginning, there's also a playlist which I always love. So that's a +1! Oh and I enjoyed the storyline with the letters, even if it was obvious early on who had written them.
That said, some elements didn’t quite work for me. The biggest frustration was the miscommunication. I’m not a fan of this trope, but here it felt even more frustrating since their breakup in the past was already due to a lack of communication, and now they’re repeating the same mistakes. Ughh
On top of that, I struggled to connect with Madison and Zach as a couple. While they were fine individually, their relationship didn’t feel convincing, and there wasn’t much growth in their dynamic as the story went on.
Overall, this is a sweet, cozy fall read that definitely delivers autumn vibes, but it didn’t quite stand out for me personally. But if you don’t mind a heavy dose of miscommunication, you’ll have fun with this one.
