Voornamelijk horizontale gymnastiek

SaliReads 13 mei 2025
Unfortunately i fell in the trap set with the words uttered by Ali herself when she said that this might be her best book so far. For me, it was not.

I didn't like the main characters, they were to flat and one dimensional. Yes, Scarlett had a history with an abusive and controlling father. Yes, she got hurt on one of her dives. Yes, she's in therapy for a mental block. Another reader might think that these things would give Scarlett's character some depth, i am not one of those readers.
She still felt superficial and i did not like that she needed Lukas to heal.

Lukas, what can i say about Lukas. Not very much. He's tall, has blue eyes and swims. He likes to dominate all aspects of his life. His friends, his house and Scarlett.

Then we have Penelope, she was front, left and center the entire book. For me she wasn't a loveable character, felt juvenile. First she pushes Lukas and Scarlett together and then wants to get between them again.

A plot, i'm sure there should be one but it was more about Lukas and Scarlett's horizontal gymnastics then something more meaningfull. As for the kinky part, i read 50 shades when it just came out. Deep End was way more vanilla then the blurb suggests.

So, i almost DNF'd but kept hoping there would be some major plottwist. There wasn't......
