Lezersrecensie
A cow creamer, a notebook full of indescretions and a policeman's helmet spell trouble for Bertie Wooster.
Aunt Dahlia sends her favourite nephew Bertram Wooster on a mission. He is to steal an antique cow creamer. Only... from the house of a judge for whom he had to appear for theft of a policeman's helmet. In the house he will meet the judge's daughter, Madeline Bassett, and her fiancée Gussie Fink-Nottle. Of course, Jeeves will accompany him and as usual will save the young master when things look hopeless. In this adventure full of misunderstandings, also the helmet of a local constable (and that person himself), a Reverend Stinker Pinker (old schoolfriend) and her betrothed Stiffy. A notebook full of indescretions completes the items and people that will behave like we can expect from Wodehouse. Unexpected, hilariously but always getting deeper in trouble.
The plot is not too difficult because Wodehouse brings the ingrediënts gradually on the stage and mixes them one by one into a very explosive cocktail.
Bertie takes some unexpected exercise when he seeks to hide from a dog on top of a cupboard.
Jeeves will keep serving refreshers to allow people to control their emotions or recover from being frightened.
Some familiar characters which make the reader right at home from the beginning. A few new ones to avoid repetition, this is already Jeeves #7, and mix-ups and misunderstandings galore to guarantee laughter. A topper in the best series of the greatest comedy writer ever.
