Swoony 90's vibe romance

Aiden Valentine is the host of Baltimore’s romance hotline. But he doesn’t believe in love. Not anymore, that is. But when a young girl calls the show for romance advice for her mother, their interview goes viral and thrusts Aiden and the show in the limelight.

Lucie Stone didn’t think she was missing something in her life. But after her daughter called a romance hotline for advice, all of Baltimore seems to scrutinize her love life. Maybe a little romance wouldn’t hurt. But where will she find that? In a staged happily ever after, or with the host of the show himself?
This was such a sweet read. It’s a love letter to Sleepless in Seattle and you definitely feel that 90’s romance vibe. The characters are all very loveable and you can’t help but root for Lucie as she navigates this new “quest”. I also thought it was pretty unique to make a romance story about a radio show.

"No one at school has quite lived up to Aragorn yet."
"I hate to break it to you, kid, but no one ever will."

The writing was very vivid and easy to follow, which makes you fly through the pages. The snippets of the radio show at the end of every chapter were such a plus.

Aiden is your classic grumpy mmc that needs a little love to open up. He’s definitely got some issues and as you discover his past, it’s not that hard to believe it. There’s even a brief mention of his mental health, which I really liked. But it wasn’t deepened and that feels like a missed opportunity to take the story and the mental health part a bit further. Because there’s definitely some sort of eye opening moment for him, but it feels a bit unbelievable. Especially since the rest of the story felt so natural and true.

"Ah Lucie. I'd know you anywhere."

Lucie, my girl. She’s such an inspiring woman to be honest. She’s a mechanic (how cool is that) and she’s so relatable it feels like she’s a friend. Her character was spot on. And she has such good chemistry with Aiden. Their banter was so fun.

The way Aiden and Lucie grew closer together felt so natural. I really enjoyed the journey both of them experienced. There were times when I was giggling because all of Baltimore (and me) knew what’s up.

"You have a pineapple pizza?"
"I do."
" You said pineapple pizza is disgusting."
"It is."
"Then why do you have it?"
"Because you said it is your favorite. And I want your favourite to be my favourite."
