Favorite small town romance series ever

Lucy has done it again… Story of my Life was my all-time favorite small town romance book but damnit if Mistakes were Made isn’t on the same spot, right there with it.

This time, we follow Zoey as she navigates her temporary life in Story Lake whilst working on Hazel's book launch. She's staying for 6 months before going back to the big city. Right?
She's very attracted to Gage Bishop but isn't looking for something other than a one night stand. And he's looking to settle down. So they couldn't be more wrong for each other. But when Gage's world is flipped upside down, he turns to Zoey to forget everything for just one night. Will he be able to forget theirs?

I absolutely loved this book! Zoey is everything and Gage… Ugh 🫠

What I love most about Lucy’s books is the humor. It is 100% my kind of humor and I think these books are just so damn funny. The banter, the weird and hilarious things that keep happening… Love love love it. Story Lake might also be the weirdest little town ever. I mean, small town is all about everyone knowing what’s going on with everyone but these people are crazy in the best way possible. Can I move there? Please?

I really really loved Zoey. She’s such an inspiring character. Especially with the ADHD rep. Like Zoey, I used to think that ADHD meant you have too much energy or something (don’t shoot me, I’m sorry). But Lucy, having ADHD herself, gave so much information about it without ever going into info dump mode.

“I always look for the sparkle.”

The other characters are all fleshed out really well. I loved getting to know the Bishop family even better and getting to know new people in town too. Every single person has their own personality and I find it mind-blowing how well thought out everyone is. The only people I absolutely hated were Zoey’s parents. You’ll know why once you meet them.

“You were never too much. They just weren’t enough.”

Zoey and Gage’s connection was something that had me kicking my feet. I don’t want to spoil anything so I can’t really say much but I loved these two so so much!

“This is emotional manipulation.”
“Damn right it is. Is it working?”

Mistakes were Made feels like a warm hug, a blanket and just so much warmth and love. There were really emotional moments and I almost needed tissues.

One small issue I had with Story of my Life resurfaced here as well: the ending felt a little rushed. But I will say it did nothing to diminish the love I have for these books.
