Modern day sass-ass meets a medieval enchanted prince... a recipe for wonderful disaster
I am a sucker for beauty and the beast re-tellings - and this one came with a 'Belle' that I totally loved!
She could literally be one of your friends at home, the snarky one, the one that doesn't take no for an answer and compensates for what hinders her by creating a strong armour with her stance.
Even though this was a beauty and the beast retelling, it doesn't start like the 'original' and that is what makes it such a good twist to the great story. The worldbuilding is done well and the main characters are well developed.
I laughed a few times out loud, especially with some of the more bold statements the 'princess' makes, I was surprised more than once by actions done and I started to love some of the characters.
Be prepared for some swordfighting, knife-throwing and an enchanted castle. There is some romance, and there is where I was left a bit on my hunger. If you want to swoon, you won't find it here. You'll understand how the relationship is unfolding, why some actions are being taken (or it'll become clear later. So it is a realistic romance but meh- I love a good romance unraveling ;).
And that is actually the best way of describing this retelling, it is a twisted version with very realistic almost normal people with genuine reactions in a magical fantasyworld. THIS IS A COMBINATION THAT WORKED SOOOO WELL,
I need to get my hands on the second installment soon - Brigid Kemmererhas got me hooked!
