Perfect spooky YA!
I really really REALLY don’t know why it took me so long before I read ‘The ghost tree’ by Christina Henry.
I bought it when it came out and I kept saving it for later.
Because I wanted to read only spooky and creepy books this year in October, I finally picked it up.
And I LOVED it!
I fell in love with the writing style of Christina. It’s smooth and she has the ability to take you on a interesting journey.
The characters were absolutely interesting and had the right amount of depth.
Besides a creepy setting, a curse and a first love, friendship is also a theme in this story.
We see main character Lauren struggling with growing up as a young woman and her search for her place in this world. Her friendship with her best friend Miranda is under pressure, so there were a lot of emotions in this story.
I really loved the development of Lauren.
Christina definitely knows how to write a creepy story including young adults' everyday problems.
This was my first spooky book of this month and I loved it!
The setting in a dark wood, a gruesome history, a curse and a small town full of people suffering from amnesia.
A perfect October read if you ask me!
