The Trjoan war for women

I read this book as part of a tandem read along with a number of chapters for each day and challenges. I rated it 3 stars.

This is a retelling of the story of Cassandra and Helen of Troy. Cassandra is gifted the power of prophecy by Apollo but in exchange has to sleep with him. When it's time for her part of the deal she rejects Apollo because she is attracted to women. Apollo is angry and curses Cassandra, anyone she tells her prophecies to won't believe her.
All the visions and prophecies come random to her and she has no control over them.
Meanwhile Helen escapes her husband with Paris and marries him. He brings his wife back to Troy and Cassandra tries anything to make her family believe her that this is the start of the fall of Troy.
The first part of the book is at a great pace and even though a lot happens the story is easy to follow.

The second part of the book for me dragged on a bit. The pace was gone and i think the story could have been told in lesser pages without it losing any of the impact. The middle part took to long for me and i found myself sometimes skimming the pages or losing concentration.
The last part was more fast paced and i did like the way Bea Fitzgerald changed the ending without it changing a lot about the story of Troy as we all know it. It was great to read who she made the heroes of the story and how it eventually all worked out for Helen and Cassandra.
